Did anything ever open up in that property? Last time I walked up the stairs from the beach was two years ago and everything was completely overgrown, and in a couple of years the jungle will reclaim the entire property. At this point (two years ago, that is) it was bordering on being a tear-down at worst, and a complete gut renovation at best. Is it still vacant?

It was one of my favourites. There is a new restaurant there but memory fails me as to the name. Sorry cannot help further. I am sure the new is still sensational.

Very sad. It was one of the best restaurants in the area. Great food, great service, delightful ambience. All gone over what was reported to be a disagreement between the owner and the restaurant. If this is true hopefully the owners regret their decision.

The owner of the property is Luis Echeverria, a former president of Mexico. He turned over management to his daughter who decided to close the restaurant 13 years ago. No reason. It was one of our favorite restaurants -- every year when we vacationed here (we moved here full-time in 2015), we ate there. Incredible menu and view. I still remember the tejones that arrived at their "feeding time" ane the waiters would toss them food.

I remember when the flying cockroaches came in and the waiters swatted at them with service towels while doing the cockroach dance and singing the cockroach song. Ah, good times. I was also sorry it closed. It was a very special place.
Interesting about the connection to a former president. Just did a quick search on him. Seems like he was not a great president and oversaw a couple of massacres in the late 60's early 70's.
