Hi Karen,

You can enjoy being on the water in La barra in a variety of ways...

Several of the enramada restaurants that line the lagoon offer rentals of vessels. 1. Pangas (flat bottom wooden boats that can hold a few persons, 1-3). you row with a wooden oar. Really fun especially with kids to just tool around. These are the same boats the locals use on the lagoon to fish. It's fun to experience it.

2. Kayaks (there are two restaurants that are providing rental of kayaks.

One is with Arturo at the restaurant called 'La Leticia' and the other is with Orlando at the restaurant called 'Que Vuelvan las Gaviotas'. They are right next each other at the area where the lagoon curves to flow out to the ocean. Orlando has more and newer state of the art kayaks... in fact, these kayaks are Brian's! (Fabulous tour and yes, hard driving a bit) Same kayaks... because Brian works the lagoon through his affiliation with Orlando.

They usually have their kayaks lying out in view. They rent for about $60-80 pesos per hour (and usually they are not really watching the clock so it might be up to you to tell them how long you've been out.

There is also the option of a motorized boat tour of the lagoon. I'd recommend Avi at the restaurant on the other side of the water. He likes to be a guide and is very knowledgeable. They will charge $50 pesos pr person for about a 20 minute boat ride. It's fun and great to see the lagoon. You can have him stop where you can swim.

Have fun!
Hasta pronto,
