Ah the marina golf course. A great Robert von Hagge Bruce Devlin design in disrepair. I have friends who have played it this year and the reports are not good. The carts are still terrible, some of the the bridges were replaced because they fell in. Don't drive two carts over the old ones at the same time. No sand traps because they've all grown in. Fairways on 4, 8 and 9 are dirt because they are too low relative to high tide and the salt has killed the grass. There is a 50 round transferrable package. After you pay for the cart, I think it amounts to 1,000 pesos per round. I have been playing Palma Real, which until recently has been in great shape but it is pricey. Until this past week not very busy, but today a 5+ hour round and some of the greens are now in poor shape. The grass doesn't have very deep roots and the extra traffic hasn't helped. The solution seems to be throwing sand on the greens when a program of aeration would promote better root growth.

I went to the activities page and here are a few additions and corrections that should be made for Palma Real.

Cart rental for members and packages is now 300MXN per round.

There are two new packages this year- a 30 round and 40 round package.
Price is $30,000 and $40,000 MXN plus 300 cart fee per round.
Neither package is transferrable. The 30 round must be used within 3 months of purchase
The 40 round must be used within 4 months of purchase.

Thanks for the heads up. I just checked their new website, and it says the cart rentals are $600. No mention of the package rates, but I'll get my info updated ASAP. Thanks again. I appreciate it.

The 30 and 40 round packages are if you are over 65. I had to bring my passport and they made a copy of it. The cart fee is 600 per cart, so I pay 300 with a shared cart. It will be another slow round on Monday. Our tee times have been adjusted until later in the morning, which probably means they won't have carts to reuse until early golfers finish their rounds.

Our daughter, her husband and their four kids are here this week. The massage huts adjacent to the dolphinarium are now charging 400 pesos, so basically 500 with tip. Parasailing for the four kids was 2,800 pesos plus tip turned into 3,000. They went two at a time, so the rate for a 'single' is probably more.

Thanks again, Chris. I've corrected my info. Terribly expensive, and damn odd about the age minimum for the packages.

Golf in Ixtapa is a joke. Stopped playing a couple years ago.
Coarse, carts, clubs in terrible condition and prices too high. Extra 20.00 for your wife to ride along.
They certainly know how to take the fun out of playing a round of golf.
Club rentals with no grips, loose club heads, carts with bad breaks and maybe pull you into a pond with crocks.
Thanks but no thanks

I don't know if it was the person that day or a policy at Palma Real. I had to bring my passport even though my permanent resident and Inapam cards that I carry in my Mexican wallet both provide my date of birth.

It's almost as if they really don't want golfers. Their golfing rates are bad enough, but $950 to rent crappy clubs is simply insulting!

I have to disagree on the condition of the rental clubs. The new owners got new sets of clubs and bags two years ago when they took over.

Great Feedback… Marina course is what is and last year they made a few positive strides ( fixed some bridges, some greens improved) . Love the honest feedback. Thanks

Then I take back my comment in another post about "crappy clubs", though $950 to rent them is still insulting.

Too many negatives and no positives to want to pay and play.

I only commented on the condition, not the price. Although in fairness, the cost to rent clubs anywhere is way up post pandemic. If you are going to play twice on a trip you are about breakeven with the baggage charge and you know your clubs. On the other hand , you then have to lug them to and from the airport for just two rounds of golf.
