Near the dolphins across from LOOT

I understand the intention of helping dogs in need. I regularly foster dogs at my home in Mexico. But taking a dog that is not mine is further than I would go, especially if I wanted to be able to help in the future. Aside from alienating any possible future relationships, I woukd not want to think of ending up in a Mexican jail.

One dog in our neighbourhood was tied on a short chain 24/7. Once or twice a week someone would come with food and water and to shovel away days of dog poop. Of course, the food was gone within a day and the water bowl was tipped over sooner.

We started going over daily to feed and water the dog and clean up poop. The owners figured this out. We continued after the dog had a litter of eight puppies. We collected puppy bodies day after day until they were all gone.

Then the owners agreed to relinquish this beautiful, gentle, grateful pit bull who had been forced to breed two or three times with every puppy dying. But now she is neutered and getting healthy food and attention in a shelter. I would love to adopt her, but with my lifestyle one dog is my limit.

I understand that after some prolonged period of uninvolvement that DIF is again participating in animal humane activities. That might be a starting point in this situation.

Near the dolphins across the street from LOOT is a large lot that recently has had a pool installed. About a month ago a nice male dog, Jack Russel type, was put in the yard. No one lives there or has for at least 8 years. Every few days someone, not always the same person, would come in and refill the bowl of food that the birds would empty in the first few hours. A very sad situation and several of us have been monitoring it.

Saw him on the beach with a woman a few days ago and she called him Diego.

Two days ago, a puppy was added. Little, tiny one. Today it went under the fence into the street. It's been a LONG day. Cut to the chase.

Both are now secure in our garage with a blankie, food, water and love. Now what?? Put a note on the inside of the gate across the street where no one lives saying we have their dogs and our phone number. We have two weimaraners and can't have two more.

Diego is very nice, finally relaxed and sat on my lap. The little girl, Macha, might be upwards of 6 weeks old.

Good homes???

The dogs owners responded to the note we left on the gate about noon when they came to use the pool. Picked up Rayo and Lluvia. We don't know if they just put them back in the yard or finally took them home. Hoping for the best.

If it hadn't resolved quickly, we were going to take them to the new facility by Sam's.
