The reported low overnight temperature for this Sunday morning was 21°C, but it felt cooler here downtown. I had to check this morning to make sure we hadn't left the A/C on overnight. But once the sun came out and peeked over the hills, it warmed up quickly and turned into another picture-postcard-perfect day.

Not many visitors were around today. A smattering of extranjeros at the waterfront restaurants and some folks from the inland cities returning from a day at Las Gatas. But this evening it seemed there were more locals out and about than visitors. And when asked where they're from, it appears most foreigners are saying Canada. I wonder if that's true or if they're just afraid to say the USA due to current events.

A shootout was reported today in La Noria, near the Neto supermarket. Only one injured person was still on the scene when police and Guardia Nacional arrived. This is the first violent incident of the year, I believe. Things have been very peaceful here so far this year. While I don't consider the incident to be cause for alarm, it is a reminder that even in paradise we live in an imperfect world, but the attack appears to have been targeted, not random.

The ocean continues to be extremely calm, not much in the way of surfing. Better for water-skiing. And at 28.2°C it continues to be warm for this time of year. But I miss hearing waves at night while sleeping. I can barely hear any sounds at all at night from the tiny little waves lapping the beach.

Whale sightings continue to amaze and thrill everyone who sees them. If you haven't seen them yet, I highly recommend taking a charter with a qualified guide such as those I list on my ACTIVITIES page. They know how and where to find them as well as how to observe them from a safe distance.
