We decided to try Casa Celeste 1 more time. We really love the location so booked a Friday night Jan 17, 2014. We were suppose to take a bus from Morelia on the 18th but Kathie's daughter is flying in on the 17th. Val has not been down since our wedding anniversary in 2007. I guess we can handle the noise 1 night. Besides we will be close to our favorite place for breakfast there on the corner across from Zoro's- been going there since they open.
What is the name of your favorite breakfast place?

Rob told me the name. It is at the end of the block down from Celeste with Zoro's just across on the other side at the corner. We love sitting there having breakfast and drinking coffee and watch the people walk by. They close in the afternoon. We were there 1 morning when a large tuna was brought to be taken home to be baked to make tuna fish salad sandwiches. We were going to Zuha Pancake House most of the time before we discovered this little gem. We would walk from Villa Mercedes sometimes just to have breakfast there.
La Tertulia, owner is David...

La Tertulia, owner is David...
The actual owner of the restaurant is Cynthia and her husband Marcos. I hope I spelled those correctly. David was the waiter there for a time. He no longer works there.
It is definitely a good place for breakfast or lunch. They do a good job there.

I stand corrected, I recall he was introduced to me as David the owner, maybe I got my wires crossed (after leaving Zorro's!)....

Not a problem. He sometimes thought he was the owner, I think. I have known Cynthia's husband since he was a kid and Cynthia and I are friends so I just wanted her to be in there. I sometimes tend their plants.
Thank you all...La Tertulia I will look for it in October.

The last couple of times we were there, the daughter was not there but was in training. Her parents were there. Her father always seams glad when we have breakfast there. Hard part about "Z", is there are so many places like this one to have a good breafast and they make you feel they want you there. One of te best thing about Mexico is that you are not rushed and the bill is not brought to you until you ask for it.

La Tertulia serves great lunches, too!
Oops...not quite sure where it is. Is it on La Madera, near Calle Adelita?

Do you know where Zorro's Bar is? Right downtown? It is right across the street on the corner. Or go to Don Memo's and take take a right. He is on one corner of the street and La Tertulia is on the other.
Okay I'll find it. I sort of know where Don Memo's is. I have probably passed by Zoro's Bar in the 13 or 14 years I've been coming to Zihua, just can't place it. I was thinking La Ropa or La Madera...now I have a better idea of where it is. Muchas gracias.

Lani, Fonda La Tertulia is located in el Centro de Zihuatanejo on the corner of Calle Pedro Ascencio and Hermenegildo Galeana. If you need a map here are a few: Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa Maps
When you first started coming here it used to be a Caseta de Larga Distancia owned by the same people who now own the restaurant. It is right next door to the Casa de Cambio.
Muy bien. Gracias por los nombres de las calles. Ahora recuerdo La Caseta de Larga Distancia.

We have till wait till Jan before we can enjoy our breakfast there. I am really glad more and more people are finding out about the place because the family that runs it are super people and deserve as many customers as they can get.

Paul, do not worry. They have lots of customers that live in Zihua all the time. Remember the Mexicans there. When the Canadians and Americans show up they just have more. They are super and have good food.
No thinking necessary! i'm going out picking tomatillos again after I froze the first batch. Any help?

Yes! Tonight! I think! All alone so should have time...if I don't drink the whole bottle of vino before I get it done. Not that complicated. Yeah, I'm doing it. I think!

I may have my street wrong, it sits on a corner of the pedestrian street that starts by the Catholic Church. There are a group of little places to eat on the street. It is not far from Bandido's.
Thanks, I know where Bandidos and the church are.
Stick with your "gut reaction"!
