ATM's (reply)

My issues last year had nothing to do with ATM's being out of money Victorio. Most of the time it was an issue due to the company the card readers were with as they were not recognized by my cards issuers. Many businesses got offered better deal by these providers and they likely worked fine with cards issued in Mexico but for folks from outside, many had issues.

ATM's (reply)

Last winter when I was in Zihua, I had issues with several cards, credit and bank card, not working in Zihua when I knew they were fine. The cards would be declined in several different ATM's or restaurants/stores after previously working there. I was told that in many cases, it was the location that had changed credit card/bank machine and they were not recognized by my bank(RBC) or my cards issuers. It was worst the last 2 weeks I was in Zihua and got me worried at times. I t was annoying as at times I was out in places I did not want to carry much cash and wanted to pay with a card and was worried if it would work or not. Funny thing on the last day in Zihua, at the airport, I used a card that I had issues with in 3 locations and no issues. Hoping by next February this is resolved for when I am back.

Hola
A lot of the time the issues are with the ATM running out of cash. Remember that most locals get paid on the 15th and 30th of the month. Don’t use ATMs then.

I started having the same issue two weeks ago with my Royal Bank of Canada card at several ATMs at Soriano and Centro. However I could transfer from my RBC account to the Canadian company that rolls my cigars so the problem is likely here.

After many years of loving INBURSA's ATM, it has hated us for the last couple of months, several cards, so we are not using it for now.

Is the ATM ruining your cards or are you just having difficulty with the machine accepting your card and account?

Thank you for the heads up.

I've had some meltdown nights in Zihua trying to get cash. Enough attempts and you can be blocked. Had to high-tail it out to Ixtapa. Thinking Dark Energy or El Nino might have played a role.

ATM's (reply)

Typically it is a problem with the phone lines, or whatever lines they use to contact your ban. If the connection is not PERFECT, the transaction is rejected. The messages you get are usually random and have nothing to do with real life, just the lack of connectivity.

We have had a lot of rain in the last week, which undoubtedly adds to the confusion.

At the best of times, the connections at Soriana are terrible. On the rare occasion we try the machines there, we are lucky if one machine will give us money. Sometimes none will.

ATM's

Does anyone know what is going on with these ATM's? I can't get cash. We have Canadian debit cards and have never had a problem. Since Thursday night it says insufficient funds or cannot complete this transaction. I went to Citibanabex on Friday in Centro and spoke with the manager and he said I had to call my bank in Canada, which I did. All is ok there. Yesterday, I went to Soriana and had the same problems with more people than myself, not receiving cash. A very nice lady gave me 500 pesos because she was lucky enough to get cash from one of the atm's. I didn't want to take it, but she ran away. I thank her again for that, if she sees this.

So does anyone know what is happening? thank you
