They flew on AeroMexico YVR-MEX with the plane at 100% capacity. Then from MEX-YVR with an oversold flight. AM was offering overnight hotel, meal vouchers, and M$6000 flight credit. I guess someone took it because the flight departed, albeit late.

My heart goes out to all the beautiful people of Jamaica, especially in the western end of the island where I have friends: Negril, Sav-La-Mar, White House and Black River, whose lives are about to be forever changed and their homes and businesses are most likely going to be destroyed by the monster Cat 5 Hurricane Melissa currently bearing down on them. I hope ample aid can arrive swiftly.

Still no arrival of the forecasted rain. This coming Wednesday looks like the next best chance for rain, and maybe the last rain we'll get until next May or June. This Monday was another mostly sunny hot and humid day. Folks arriving from far northern places for vacation must be having a rough time adjusting.

A mar de fondo event is expected on the 30th from Sinaloa to Chiapas with waves along the open coast from 2 to 3 meters. The ocean has been quite calm lately. Get ready for more beach erosion.

The winter tourist season has officially begun! Today was the arrival of the first WestJet flight from Calgary of the season, and it was 90% full. Local businesses are sprucing up in anticipation of the coming tourist season and the arrival of many more visitors. I hope all the politicians and their followers getting their photo ops greeting arriving passengers at the airport today didn't alarm our visitors.
