Zihuatanejo lost a beloved daughter today with the passing of Zaida Allec Galeana, lifelong friend of my wife, Lupita. We wish much love and strength to her family.

Our perfect weather continues. People were setting up chairs and umbrellas for a day on the beach at Playa Principal even before the sun rose. Visitors continue flocking to the coast from the inland cities, many of which are experiencing frigid temperatures. The waterfront is full of families and couples this evening, including many visitors from north of the border. ¡Bienvenidos a todos!

One month from today marks the official beginning of our whale watching season. Early arrivals heading farther south should start passing by the coast in coming weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for them.

This Monday is an official holiday, so banks will be closed in observance of Día de la Revolución.

One of my favorite places to eat, Deborah's Restaurant on the boulevard in Ixtapa, is accepting reservations for her incomparably perfect Thanksgiving Dinner with all the fixings and her mouthwatering pumpkin pie for dessert, guaranteed to swell your belly and have you waddling as you walk away.
