My family and I were shocked at this Saturday morning's news. Instead of offers from the U.S. government as neighbors to help Mexican victims of an earthquake, as we would do for them, we hear that the U.S. military has invaded and bombed a sovereign Latin American nation, kidnapped its leader, and intends to steal its natural resources. Then, the criminal pedophile has the gall to threaten other nations, including Mexico. He needs to keep the name of our beautiful country and its beloved president out of his filthy mouth!

As of 8PM this Saturday evening there have been over 1,700 replicas of yesterday's earthquake in San Marcos. We also had a small earthquake right off the coast of Zihuatanejo overnight.

The ocean is so calm there are no waves at all in Zihuatanejo's bay, no ocean sounds at all, but we can still see slight surges and drops in the water level in reaction to the multitude of earthquakes. These were predicted by our geological services.

There remain tens of thousands of people here on vacation. This last week of the holidays we're actually seeing more middle class Mexicans who are filling the waterfront restaurants and visiting local shops, or maybe they're just more noticeable with fewer people around. It's certainly good to see them along with so many folks from Canada and the USA who historically are usually mostly absent during the peak of our Christmas vacation period. The additional flights from other Mexican cities appear to be having a noticeably positive affect.

Traffic is a mess for people trying to return to the inland cities, and yet our streets remain congested and parking is a mess. We're seeing license plates from all over the country. On our morning sojourns we also keep seeing vehicles with people sleeping in them. Not exactly the big-spending tourists we need, but they're certainly most welcome here.

Smart locals put in their orders now at their favorite panadería for their Rosca de Reyes for this coming Jan. 6, Día de los Reyes Magos.
