The halftime show on Sunday was better than the football game, though I'm happy for Seattle's fans. A bit hard to understand all the lyrics because of the way he sings, but little Benito from Vega Baja has come a long way, and he told a wonderful story and gave a terrific message and lesson to U.S. citizens, especially to the haters. I visited Vega Baja before Benito was born. It was near the site of the Mar Y Sol Pop Festival on April 1, 2 & 3, 1972. I went with my mother's boyfriend mostly out of idle curiosity, but also because we had just heard that a friend of ours had been murdered in his tent there, so we also went in support of other folks from St. Croix whom we knew would be there. No tickets, no luggage or change of clothes. We told the ticket takers on the road into the festival that we were meeting friends with our tickets at the gate. Turned out there was no gate. Vega Baja was a tiny village in the middle of nowhere on the northern coast. In spite of the murder of our friend, we found the people in the area to be extremely friendly. What a wonderful son it produced!

Monday morning was cool and refreshing. Not a cloud in the sky, and hardly anyone around who isn't a local except some extranjeros, some getting their exercise while others were getting their coffee. The day never got very busy for local merchants. There were a few people at the beach.

A few more sailboats have turned up in recent days. Almost a couple dozen in the bay now. Just in time to save the Sailfest.

The fishing tournament turned out to be a bust with too few participants for the sponsor to come out ahead. I would've gladly given it free publicity if it had not been mostly a kill tournament. A half-kill, half-catch-and-release tournament is still too many billfish killed. Our fishing captains need live fish for their charters, not to wander around catching nothing like happened not too long ago in Acapulco from overfishing.

It enjoys an extremely lovely view of the beach and bay, and with the large picture window open, it has a very open-air feel and receives refreshing breezes through the palm trees in front. This vacation rental condo has a full kitchen, Wi-fi, A/C, and cable TV as well as a pool on the property and 24-hour security. Easy walking distance to many restaurants as well as downtown shopping.
