We filed the paperwork to eliminate our trust, knowing that we only owed 6 months payment. Almost immediately, Scotia bank said we owed 5,000 USD. We were easily able to prove our past payments It's been 4 days, nothing more, so hopefully they accept that. Our theory is that Amarantha didn't have, or couldn't find the payment, so by us providing proof of payment, we saved her work.

Only time will tell!!!

I gave them my CC 12,years ago and never had a problem. My safeguard is the Trust fee is the only item ever charged on this card.

you can pay your trust with your credit card. Ask the Amarantha to send you a copy of the approval form. They will charge to it every year.

The contact is at the Scotia Bank in Acapulco, Amarantha Radilla Flores, aradilla@scotiabank.com.mx. I don't seem to have her phone number anymore. She speaks English, but the problem is, that they are very disorganized there and she rarely answers any emails or phone calls.
Do you have a Kapital Bank account(formerly Intercam)? If you do, and have sufficient funds in your account to pay your trust then go to the Ixtapa branch and ask for Fernando. He will help you pay your trust. All you need is your ID and your trust #. There is not much of a wait, if any, to see him and he speaks fluent English. You may be able to do this at other banks where you have an account, but we have found him most reliable over the 15 or so years that we had been dealing with him.

Scotiabank is utterly worthless when it comes to "managing" trusts. When I sold my Zihua house last year, I think it cost me just under $1000 to terminate the trust but it happened within months. They get you coming and going!

Good luck with that. Two years ago I was finally able to pay 7 years worth. Now just owe for 2025. We were charged no late fees or any such BS.

Just starting the process of getting rid of the trust. Who knows how long that will take? Hopefully the Notary will let us know....
