When we were here in December, there were tons of pelicans perched on the rocks where the national flag is on La Ropa. Haven’t seen a one this week.

Well, all the helicopter activity today isn't helping the local bird population. Most of them seem to have flown the coop!

There seems to be far fewer pelicans in the La Ropa area this season. Does it have to do with there being fewer fish that they feed on or some other reason? Does anyone know when the parade for Carnival will happen?

There've been lots of pelicans lately. Perhaps just not where you are. I've posted several photos of them this week here at the downtown beach and several other photos with lots of pelicans in recent weeks. Sardines have been schooling here for a couple of months.

I've seen no official date for the Desfile de Carnaval posted anywhere, but I'm going top go out on a limb and guess it will be the last day of Carnaval celebrations, which is March 15th.
