So all you do is do another transaction!!!! Yesterday it took me three transactions at HSBC to get up to my limit. We get our ATM fees refunded so don't mind having to do multiple transactions.

The daily limit is primarily set by your bank, not the ATM.

Not entirely true

If your bank limit is higher than the ATM limit, then you will not get the amount you asked for. We ran into this issue a few times recently.

I have been all over the place on how much to tip the porters and others I have spoken to seem uncertain as well.

I typically arrive with a large checked suitcase, a similarly sized cardboard box, a large dog crate with a small dog (I like him to be comfortable) and a carry-on.

I have tipped M$200 and been told by locals (not by the porter!) that I was over tipping. But I consider how much time they must spend waiting for flights to make money.

Taxi - I have assumed since the airport taxi rate is so very very high that the driver shares in it and there is no need for a tip. Correct or does the government grab almost all of it?

ATM - Any additional advice on using except for the standard to decline the low initially offer exchange rate.

There is a combi outside the airport parking lot that takes you to Centro Zihuatanejo. There is also a combi outside the airport parking lot that will take you to Barra de Potosi.

As of this writing, Inbursa Bank across from Los Braseros has the lowest ATM fee at MXN$22 pesos. The Telcel store in Ixtapa has an Ibursa ATM that advertises MXN$19 pesos but I didn't try it. It may just be they haven't updated the sign because their fee recently went from MXN$19 pesos to MXN$22 pesos.

How about shuttle driver for prearranged trip to hotel?

All the Transporte Terrestre drivers are well paid. No tip is necessary. I don't know about drivers sent by lodgings or via other arrangements.

You are correct. There is no need to tip the driver. They are paid well for their excellent services.

You do decline the exchange rate. Forget which one we used but had we accepted it the”mark-up” was 18%.
