If you think the walk to the pier is bad, the entire parking lot has been torn up. Anyone crossing the puente from La Noria has to slog through mud to get to Juan N. Alvarez. Definitely challenging walking around here!

Yes, we came across that last evening trying to get to the bridge. Insulting that the municipal government undertook this totally unwanted, unnecessary, and very likely illegal obra, leaving the pier without lights for 6 months and now the only pedestrian route to downtown is through a mud pit. They don't care about the community. What surprises me are all the sycophants saying how wonderful it will be when it's finished in spite there being no maqueta or rendering having been made public of the final outcome. Alex Serna was right. This is all about benefitting one family.

We awoke to a muggy and windless Saturday morning after a lovely night sleeping with windows open and the fan on low. So by the time we went for fresh bolillos and I did some morning chores, I was empapado con sudor. There wasn't any breeze until around noon when clouds formed up over the mountains and we had a nice little rain. The clouds also made for a colorful sunset.

A few people showed up to visit our beaches, but they still had to walk through mud to take the boats to Las Gatas, and for those who stayed late even after the rain to watch the sunset, they had to return to a darkened pier that still doesn't have lights after over 6 months and, of course, a walkway of mud. The disrespect demonstrated by the municipal government towards locals and visitors over this totally unnecessary and unwanted pier project really is appalling and unforgiveable.

We've got another storm system coming from the southeast that we need to keep a close eye on. It's expected to develop into a tropical storm this Sunday, and we should expect it to behave similarly to Polo, growing very quickly into a large hurricane over our extremely warm Pacific Ocean where the sea temperature is around 31°C. Its path takes it parallel to our coast, so we can expect more rain, strong winds and good surf. Be sure to keep a close eye on it if you're here.
