After midnight it began to rain in Zihuatanejo. A light pitter-patter quickly became a torrential downpour drowning out all the other nocturnal noises. The rain continued throughout the rest of the night, letting up just before sunrise, leaving a freshly-washed dripping-wet morning for all of us early risers with chores to do.

The first thing we noticed stepping outside was smoke in the air from a nearby restaurant, Rincón de la Pasta, half a block away where a fire had started in their kitchen. Fortunately the Bomberos got there quickly and extinguished the fire. The interior of the restaurant looked fine except for the smoke stains on the walls and ceiling. Hopefully they'll be up and running soon.

Hardly any visitors were visible today. The pier seemed especially slow for a Sunday. Waiters at waterfront restaurants seemed to outnumber the clients. The lack of visitors at this time of year is usually accompanied by an increase in crime, so stay alert and be aware of your surroundings. Lock up well at night and when you go out.

:tornado: It looks like we're going to be feeling the effects soon of what will become Tormenta Tropical Narda as it passes close by our coast. Hopefully it won't become a hurricane until it's moving away from us. I recommend keeping a close eye on this, and if you live on the waterfront, get ready for another round of large waves that could cause beach erosion.
