El Día Después de la InundaZIHón
Thursday night was windy and rainy, and the temperature got as cool as it's been since last winter. Friday morning it was still raining, but the rain stopped shortly after 7 and it quickly turned into an absolutely beautiful day. Part of the magic of Zihuatanejo.
City workers in Servicios Públicos did an exemplary job of cleaning the beaches, roads, walkways and plazas. They had a LOT of work to do! No one works harder than they do in our local government.
But the ocean will remain too dirty for safe swimming for at least a couple more days. A lot of mud and human filth washed down the hillsides and into arroyos, canals and rivers all up and down the coast.
While Raymond has moved on up the coast and poses no further threat, it looks like another big swirly thing is likely to form up in the Golfo de Tehuantepec by the middle of the coming week. It's like a conveyor belt of tropical storms along our coast.
I'm surprised at the number of visitors that showed up today. Once the sun came out so did the visitors, but some were swimming in the muddy ocean water even before the sun came out. Not recommended. Best to wait a few days after a heavy rain.
Playa Blanca is a place that still enjoys much peace and tranquility, a place where the stars still appear clearly in the evening skies and where whales and dolphins can be seen spouting and breaching from the shore. El Manantial is an affordable vacation lodging located right on the beach at Playa Blanca offering two one-bedroom bungalows and two houses, one with three bedrooms and the other with six, each with A/C and wi-fi internet, and access to a common pool and a beachfront lounge area.
