Cats and Mice

First, laws are, in principle, written by the powerful (read wealthy). They are written not to serve the people, but to serve those who created them.

In the US, laws are written by elected representatives of the people. You vote for a representative who reflects your interests.

The US form of elections is based on rich cats that distinguish between themselves, while making rules over the mice. The common people are the mice. You don’t vote for a representative who reflects your interests. You choose between two cats, each of which reflects the interests of cats.

There are a few exceptions. Bernie Sanders comes to mind. Maybe Zohran Mamdani, we’ll see.
