We enjoyed another refreshing morning of coolish temps before the sun came out this Saturday. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

First thing this morning downtown there was a parade by students and faculty of the Instituto Tecnológico Nacional de México (aka Instituto Tecnológico de la Costa Grande) to celebrate their 37th anniversary. ¡Muchas felicidades!

Apparently in response to the shootout at Las Gatas the other day, the Marina, Guardia Nacional, policía estatal and several other law enforcement agencies confiscated 179 tragamoneda machines located at various stores and shops around town. They had actually been banned years ago, but the municipal government apparently "forgot" to apply their own laws. They also raided a restaurant at Las Gatas and confiscated a substantial supply of meth and arms, but oddly there apparently were no arrests. Another raid at Las Salitreras resulted in the detention of 3 people with arms and stupidly banned substances. Somehow I'm still not reassured that local perpetrators of violence have been impacted.

The dates for Mexico's version of Black Friday known as "BUEN FIN" have been announced for Guerrero. From November 13 to 17 you can find good discounts on all kinds of goods and merchandise in participating stores that include all the large department stores and supermarkets.
