We enjoyed another night of perfect sleeping weather and cloudless skies this morning. The day quickly warmed up, and it was another day of perfect weather with a light breeze part of the day. A few clouds rolled in this Tuesday evening, and from the pier this evening after sunset we watched thunderstorms flare up in the sierra of Zihuatanejo and Petatlán. Nothing but a tease, because they traveled inland. More rain is in the forecast for the next couple of days. We might get lucky and get a few drops. Folks in Vallecitos got a nice downpour.

While Ixtapa's hotels appear to be mostly full, except the Emporio whose workers are on strike, Ixtapa's visitors don't seem to be leaving their hotels much or spending any of their money in any of the local shops or restaurants. A decades-long problem unfortunately neglected by our municipal government. In Zihuatanejo things are a little better but not much. The arrival of foreigners has been good for local restaurants, but the shopkeepers say they haven't had much business. Too much of our national tourism arrives by bus, and they simply don't have the purchasing power our community needs in order to prosper.

The ocean water temperature is currently 29.1°C. The surf has been mostly disappointing for surfers with the ocean remaining extremely calm with nothing to get excited about in the foreseeable future.

Whether you want to go sportfishing, whale watching, sightseeing or snorkeling, my friend Capitán Ramón Olea of the panga Oleaje offers an affordable adventure waiting to be enjoyed. Ramón knows all the local fishing and snorkeling spots as well as what else is worth seeing. His 24' covered panga doesn't offer much luxury, but his expertise in fishing and his local knowledge of our coast and its marine life is second to none! Ramón practices "catch and release" fishing when possible.
