Early Reviews on new Supermarket Chadruai

Just wondering what are the early comments on the new store vs. Soriano’s, Mega Bodega or Sam’s .
I know the markets have the best value for produce , meats etc but still wondering how this store compares ( price, selection and freshness).
Thanks

The BIG WARNING now would be cracked tiles everywhere.

Not a Sam's member so can't speak to that.
Since we are here for 6 months of the year, we tend to cook and bake more at home.
Prices at Chedruai are similar to Soriana. Selection is better at Chedruai and the store is better organized. Unlike Soriana, there are plenty of cashiers at Chedruai.
Bodega Aurrera is cheaper, not fancy and my go-to store for stocking up on pantry items. Merza is the cheapest. It's aisles are narrow and crowded but I can usually find basic necessities (shelf stable milk, sugar, flour, etc.).
I buy all meats and produce at, or around, the mercado. Panaderia La Boquita has wonderful fresh postres that are often still warm from the oven.

We found that you cannot get a bag of ice like you can at Soriana. Bummer. Also thought the layout and organization of the store was suboptimal, but maybe that’s just ‘cuz it was unfamiliar to us.

Maybe Chadruai is better or more consistent in the produce section. Soriana has a hard time even consistently stocking platinos .

It's a little smaller, but pretty comparable to Sorriana. I had no trouble with the floors being slippery or broken tiles. Price seemed comparable, but I don't really watch that closely. I found the Sweet Baby Ray's, but they only had the buffalo wing sauce (yuck)not any of the original. No ATM's if you are planning on using one during your stop there.

I never use self-checkout. Stores install them so they can pay fewer employees, not for the convenience of shoppers.

In Soriana the lines can often be over 30 minutes long. Really. Self check is a gift.

Agree that they install them to cut labor costs (and keep lower prices) but disagree about not for the convenience of shoppers. The convenience comes in the shortening of the checkout process.
I fully expect your next post to be about corporate greed, keeping all the profits, etc.
Grilled Chared Veggies

In the back between produce and meat there is a grilled/charred veggie place. Walked by it several times, this time bought a package of eggplant. A whole eggplant, perfectly thickly sliced, charred. LIke what we do when it goes perfectly. FABULOUS and only 19 pesitos!!!!
Give their things a try.
