Sometime during the night we got a nice little rain, and this Monday morning everything was washed clean. The rain returned lightly later in the morning, but then the sun came out and it turned into another absolutely picture-postcard-perfect day. The beaches quickly filled up with visitors, many whom we saw returning sunburnt after sunset.

A shame the municipal government left the Cancha Municipal literally in shambles and without any program or event of any kind for this special evening. Disappointing for locals and visitors. It's bad enough the decorations don't match the season, either. We can't all make it to the Palacio Municipal for the Grito by Liz.

You can watch Presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo give her first Grito de la Independencia this evening at 11:00 P.M. from the Palacio Nacional celebrating 215 years of Mexico's independence from Spain. The celebration in the Zócalo has already started, and there will be fireworks later. You can watch it all live on Youtube if you don't have any Mexican TV channels. We always watch it on one of the Televisa channels.
