Once again, the rain forecast to arrive during the wee hours never materialized. It fizzled out down the coast. We're going through the change of season when it gets hot and humid, more than it's been during the past several months, but it seems the more we wish for rain, the less we get. Storms continue passing by off the coast taunting us. So frustrating.

Not many visitors around today, but the cifras alegres released by the state tourism office say we had 75% occupancy this past weekend. Maybe. Seems like an exaggeration, though.

The lagoon is closed up at Barra de Potosí, and the water continues rising as it does every year. The fishermen are loving the catch of camarones and fish due to the closed lagoon, but the restaurant operators who have invaded the edges of the lagoon are seeing their places flooded. Maybe they should've built on stilts. Mother nature knows her job, and the law prohibits digging open the mouth of the lagoon. Hopefully someone is making sure the law is respected. Salt producers fill up their areas with the brackish water and must wait until the water recedes.
