Though there's a slight chance of rain this Tuesday night or early Wednesday, it's looking more and more like our rainy season has come to an abrupt end. Just when it was getting good! What a shame. We remain below average rainfall this year. And to think, just two years ago on this date Huracán Otis was just forming up, threatening us before slamming into Acapulco.

A week ago I posted about INEGI census takers and their job being dangerous. One was injured yesterday in the crossfire between two communities in Cochoapa el Grande in La Montaña region of Guerrero who were shooting at each other. "Guerrero bronco" is an expression we know our state by, suggesting it is still untamed and wild. And Guerrero bronco rears its head frequently to remind us of where we are. But you have to be paying attention, and ignorance remains bliss for so many.

Today was another hot one. The waves picked up a little in the morning but died off by the end of the day. A few visitors were out enjoying the beaches, but they were still mostly empty. The high clouds only made the sky brighter and offered no relief. Storm clouds were visible in the sierra and out to sea, taunting us as they drifted past and out of reach.

Decorations for Día de Muertos are going up all along the waterfront and at Plaza Kioto where a giant Katrina will be placed. The calendar of events for Día de Muertos can be found on my Community Services & Events page.
