Esperando Arribos MaZIHvos
Monday night was mostly a sheets-optional night for sleeping with the windows open to the sound of an easy surf. Still no "cool" air from the arctic blast that drilled down into Mexico a couple of days ago. The day warmed up quickly under the clear skies, and it was just another day of perfect tropical weather. They all seem to run together. Only the weekends stand out for the increased presence of visitors.
We certainly noticed the increased presence of people from north of the border during our stroll along the waterfront this evening. Bars and restaurants along the waterfront were mostly full of untanned new arrivals. "La Temporada" is underway.
While the assassination of Uruapan's mayor has moved the entire nation, it appears the deaths of 6 people locally doesn't even merit a follow-up or any details from the municipal government or what passes for reporters here. So there's nothing to update. As always after a violent incident that gets noticed, there's a noticeable increase in the presence of the Guardia Nacional patrolling on foot along the waterfront, but the problem is the same: after 9:00 P.M. it's hard to find any police presence anywhere when it's most needed.
I'm not sure if the Danzón dancers will be in Plaza del Artista this Wednesday evening. According to them, the municipal government appears to have dropped the ball. The dancers used to bring their own small portable speaker that was quite adequate. I think they should start doing so again and give up on the DJ, the colored lights and plastic chairs and all other hoopla from the municipal government.
What a beautiful full moon this Tuesday night!
A favorite location for many visitors, Amor del Sol located overlooking Playa La Madera is an extremely comfortable and nicely appointed condominium that offers from 1 to 3 bedrooms (only pay for what you need!). The complex has a pool, but the ocean at La Madera is often calm enough for easy swimming. (click to enlarge photo)

Pescadores en una canoa durante el amanecer en la bahía de Zihuatanejo. Qué incongruente que el ayuntamiento pone un letrero para "proteger" las tortugas marinas justo debajo de luces que desorientan a las mismas tortugas.
