Once again, a thunderhead drifted by off the coast early this Wednesday morning, teasing us. Otherwise, there wasn't hardly a cloud to be seen anywhere until the evening. I've always hated the end of the rainy season, but only in recent years has the rainy season ever been also such an anxious time as it is now. Poor Jamaica and Cuba.

People often ask about healthcare in our area. This is not a place to be ill or in poor health. You have to be ready to accept fate if you want to visit or live here. A dear local friend was recently so malpracticed here by what passes local for local healthcare that his family members took him to San Diego to save his life. The federal government is working on universal healthcare for us, but we're still a ways off from seeing it happen. Most locals will never have the good fortune my friend enjoyed thanks to his family connections. And he's still not out of the woods. But now he misses being here every day.

My dear friend Lois at Villa Zanzibar says she still has dates open for November and December! Somebody's missing out on the vacation of a lifetime! What a beautiful place to stay, and what a beautiful person to rent from!
