This Friday morning was another one of those days when for some odd reason the local authorities had another special event on the beach in front of the museum at 7 in the morning with disco music blasting and an emcee with an audience of maybe 30 or 40 people maximum but a sound system for a small arena. W T absolute F?

But then these are the same people who've imposed stupid Blue Flag beach rules at some popular beaches that don't allow anyone to play music or even play an instrument. Except the beach restaurants and bars, of course. Insane!

Could anyone hear it across the bay this morning? Hope you didn't want to sleep or listen to the sound of the surf.

Otherwise, it was a lovely morning and a beautiful day!

And now the mayor is insisting that the Port Captain's office AT THE PIER is in the way of her big events where she likes getting her photos taken, so she wants to remove it along with the obelisk monument that belongs to the Mexican navy. Everyone is against it, but public opinion hasn't stopped her or her husband yet from pouring cement wherever they want. Our family is grateful for the presence of the Mexican navy right where they and the Capitanía are located. They keep the area safer than it otherwise would be. We really need to change our local form of government to a city manager/city council format. The pier is a work zone, not a salón de fiestas.

Lots of visitors arrived for the long weekend in celebration of Día de la Revolución. Monday is the official day of rest, but the parade will be next Thursday morning at 8AM. Boats were still returning full from Las Gatas this evening past 7PM. And there are extranjeros everywhere now. Waterfront restaurants are full of folks talking much louder than locals do.

Don't forget that Deborah's Restaurant is accepting reservations for her wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner. There will be two seatings: 5:30 and 7:30 P.M. The pumpkin pie alone is worth it, but she'll also have her homemade cranberry sauce, stuffing with gravy, light and dark meat cooked to perfection, soup, salad, and other goodies.

Remember, the Eco-Tianguis "Sanka" happens every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 1:40 p.m. in the small plaza in front of the Vicente Guerrero school, across the street from the Museo Arqueológico de la Costa Grande in downtown Zihuatanejo by the waterfront where La Boquita canal runs into the bay. Besides wonderful handcrafts, they feature a variety of homegrown produce, fresh foods including pastries, breads and tamales, fresh coffee, juices and mezcal.
