We awoke to a light rain in Zihuatanejo Bay this Friday morning. Nice and refreshing. Folks out strolling and exercising didn't seem to mind. By 7:30 it had stopped. But it remained cloudy until late in the afternoon. Perfect weather for locals. Beachgoers will just have to make do with not getting sunburnt for a day.

Presidenta Sheinbaum gave her morning press conference from Acapulco. Then she started driving up the coast towards Zihuatanejo with very little security, nothing like previous presidents, stopping in various towns along the way to greet people and accept their letters of petitions, a common practice in Mexico, but one that she has made herself even more accessible for. She gave a major press conference in Coyuca while personally delivering to dozens of women their new Pensión de Mujeres.

She's expected to hold an event in the Unidad Deportivo this Saturday. She'll likely give a speech, mingle with local women, and accept petitions. I believe in the evening there may be a special event for her at the Partenón since it will be closed to the public this Saturday evening. I hope she gets some time to relax, take a swim, and enjoy herself here. She works extremely hard, and the results speak for themselves. Her next stop on Sunday will be Michoacán.

Also, the Eco-Tianguis "Sanka" happens every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 1:40 p.m. in the small plaza in front of the Vicente Guerrero school, across the street from the Museo Arqueológico de la Costa Grande in downtown Zihuatanejo by the waterfront where La Boquita canal runs into the bay. Besides beautiful handcrafts, they feature a variety of homegrown produce, fresh foods including pastries, breads and tamales, fresh coffee, juices and mezcal.
