semana santa rush?

Does it begin this weekend or next weekend? Will it be mostly over on April 6th?

Next Friday there are no classes since it's the last Friday of the month, so let's call that the beginning of Semana Santa. But the Semana Santa vacation period is actually two weeks: Semana Santa and Semana de Pascua. It doesn't end until Sunday, April 12th since classes start back up on the next day.

The second week is typically slightly less busy than the first week.

Here is our take, Love you Rob, but we disagree:

They start coming down the mountain on Wednesday, the first. We'll do our regular shopping that morning.

Then they arrive. Things get pretty silly with people in the stores and restaurants, and they are pretty much gone on Monday the 6th. By mid afternoon on that Monday, things are fine. We won't eat our during that period.

If you are elsewhere, like we got caught in Tepic ( a LOVELY town) during that window, you'll be hard pressed to even get teleras at the bakeries, much less good stuff, because everyone is at the beach.

It is fun to see the people from inland enjoying the beach and ocean. We will still do our regular paddles and talk to people who are interested in what we are doing. It's a great time!!
