The morning freshness was less cool but still noticeable this Monday. The humidity was high after an overnight sprinkle. Someone in Coacoyul said it rained there. We're still at least a month away from the possibility of any real rains. A strong El Niño effect may mean bad news for us here this rainy season as the ocean warms above normal.

Sales remain slow. The general consensus among local merchants is that the vacation season has been a disappointment so far. This Monday we didn't see any signs that outlook was changing. Even fewer people around than last week, and no real signs of more affluent visitors yet.

The only semblance of reporting I've seen on the fire at La Ropa last night was that one room at Las Urracas caught on fire "but it was quickly extinguished" even though I watched it burn for at least a half an hour. I'm certainly glad that it wasn't La Perla as I'd originally thought. No word on what started it.

For Easter I gave my annual listen to Jesus Christ Superstar, an album I originally bought on 8-track when it first came out and I still lived in Louisville. Also listened to some Staple Singers. That was enough Jesus music for me.

The waves died down considerably today in Zihuatanejo's bay, and I saw families enjoying themselves and playing in the waves without any difficulty. The downtown beach wasn't nearly as full today, but people continue to enjoy being able to have picnics, bring their pets, play music and hang hammocks between the palm trees. Lots of things prohibited at too many other local beaches.
