It was barely cool enough to feel comfy under a sheet this Thursday morning. Just barely. Gotta appreciate every moment of relative coolness while it lasts. The heat and humidity that presage the rainy season will be here soon enough.

We greeted several dozen day trippers as they traversed the route from the bus to the pier in order to get to Las Gatas, oblivious to the morning's tragic news. Faces full of happy expectation as they look forward to a day at the beach. There are only a few days left of the vacation season.

The mayor had a dance party on Playa Principal last night. Did anyone go? Visitors seemed to be enjoying themselves, but instead of dancing in the sand there was a disco dance stage with colored lights. We're getting more Disneylandish each day. I wonder if the mayor knew she was dancing on the corpses of baby sea turtles who hatched but couldn't break through the hard sand the municipal government stupidly compacted for a fútbol de playa tournament last year. Doubt it. :-/

There was a show for little kids this evening at the Cancha Municipal. We were pleasantly surprised to hear them play some recorded children's music that was written and performed by a family member of ours in Mexico City whose half-sister is currently visiting us on vacation.

Merchants and restaurants are having to work hard to make any money this vacation season. We're still getting too many people with too little money to spend. Normally we see more bigger spenders the second week of vacation, but this year they're far fewer than normal.

Chachalacas are still around our neighborhood making their odd creaking sounds in the morning. We've never had them in the downtown area before. Only on the edges of town and of course throughout the hilly and wooded areas. Love'em!

This incredible property is located on Troncones Beach a short walk from the village. Features a pool, ceiling fans and hammocks on the porches. Rent the entire property or in parts.
