The overnight temperatures continue getting warmer, and the humidity remains around 80% overnight. While it was still comfortable to sleep under a sheet Friday night, our seasons are changing. Before our rains begin it usually gets extremely hot and humid with very little breeze. This can go on for days, weeks, even months before the rains start up. With our increased urbanization, especially of condos and luxury homes, the demand on electricity peaks, and we're prone to outages and brownouts. As it's also the burning season, the increased presence of smoke can make this period even more uncomfortable.

Parts of Guerrero such as Tixtla and Chilpancingo have had heavy rains in recent days, but nothing for us except a few teasing drops last week.

The surfing continues to be pretty decent. Waves around a meter or so at favorite local surf spots. The water temp remains around 28°C. A bit warm for this time of year, and it's contributing to the El Niño effect which can have global repercussions.

This weekend is the last hurrah for our tourism until mid-July. While it hasn't been a terrible vacation period for locals, the cifras alegres of the numbers of visitors offered by the state and local governments don't reflect conditions on the ground. More tourists without any real purchasing power is not sustainable tourism. Our municipal government acts oblivious to the problem, and our state government has never known what to do with Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa. They're all about Acapulco, and Taxco as an afterthought. Of course, folks in Troncones clamored for attention from the government, and they got it. Now condos are being built all over the place in Troncones. Not good for the community. Careful what you wish for. Enjoy the peace and natural beauty of Troncones while they last!
