In the wee hours of this Sunday morning it finally got cool enough to sleep under a light sheet, but the coolness didn't last long. A few clouds helped keep the temperature mild for part of the morning, and the humidity dropped down a bit, but there was no breeze for most of the day. It got up to around 35°C today, the warmest it's been in a while. A harbinger of things to come.

While we saw busloads of tourists arriving early, they didn't stay long, and they certainly didn't do any shopping. The downtown streets were mostly empty for much of the day. Visitors who drove here hit the road early in the afternoon to get home and get their kids ready for school tomorrow. Restaurants weren't very busy, though there were a few more affluent Mexican visitors at some of the waterfront restaurants this evening, though not very many. Bus riders will have a long night getting home and a mad rush in the morning to get their kids to school. A few visitors will fly home this evening. Our own visiting family member left yesterday after being here for a little over 2 weeks.

There was a nice concert at the Cancha Municipal this evening with some talented singers performing beautiful music. A real pleasure to enjoy while we strolled past the main plaza this evening.

The Feria de Petatlán also had their grand finale tonight, and there was a huge turnout! So good to see!

Back to reality this Monday as millions of students go back to school. Tourism will be mostly dead except for some weekend day trippers from now until mid-July. Some businesses will make it. Others won't. Some will close and re-open later to save on costs.

[image]Tucked away in a lovely gardened property less than a block from the beach at Playa La Ropa is another one of our hidden jewels with a French flair named Casa Iguana. Six luxurious bungalow suites with A/C, cable TV, Internet connection, kitchenettes, and garden terraces with living and dining areas. An absolutely perfect place for relaxing and losing track of time.

If you open the photo in a computer or large tablet you'll see the date that it depicts is "20 Septiembre 1937" when there were only "360 Habitantes". I don't think any other non-Mexican has seen this mural because of its location at the Casa Ejidal where Zihuatanejo's ejidatarios meet to discuss their business.

I think it is so cool that in 1937, that little casita by the man's feet had an electical outlet!
