Someone wrote to me offline asking about our recent experience in Zihuat. here's my reply:

I found that Zihuat Bay is polluted to the point that it is dangerous. I also found that I could not eat the meat from most vendors, and am still not right gastrointestinally after being home for 5 days now. I also found that the area in general is a health hazard due to garbage and sanitation practices. Also, if it rains, be prepared to be wading through the shit-laden streets of Zihuat... local culture!

Go veggie, go to the Bodega, buy cooked chickens if you want meat, and look for blue corn tortillas.

In addition, everywhere but banks are using a 10/1 exchange rate, which is not a good rate.
