Hot weather is the mother of procrastination.
Some old truths retain relevance.
"It's so hot I put everything off. Hot weather is the mother of procrastination. My energy is at ebb tide. I'm getting caloricly stupid".
Thomas Edison in his personal journal, July 20, 1885
I have not found any information as to whether he had intended to make the entry a day or two earlier.
I believe he was living in Ft. Myers, Florida at the time. My old home. Actually, I lived on Sanibel Island about 91 years afterwards. It was still damn hot in the summertime and there was nothing but skeeters, gators and hurricanes, but we did have frozen yogurt, Swisher Sweets, red beer, peanut-butter popcorn, square grouper, Everglades Seasoning, my homemade Café du Monde beignets with chicory coffee, and Sanibel Sauce from the Lighthouse Restaurant for our Eggs Benedict on Sunday mornings. Heaven on earth at the time!
